The year is 1956, and the Axis powers of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan rule the world. To commemorate their Great Victory over Britain and Russia, Hitler and Emperor Hirohito host the Axis Tour: an annual motorcycle race across their conjoined continents. The victor is awarded an audience with the highly reclusive Adolf Hitler at the Victor’s ball.
Yael, who escaped from a death camp, has one goal: Win the race and kill Hitler. A survivor of painful human experimentation, Yael has the power to skintight and must complete her mission by impersonating last year’s only female victor, Adele Wolfe. This deception becomes more difficult when Felix, Adele’s twin brother, and Luka, her former love interest, enter the race and watch Yael’s every move. But as Yael begins to get closer to the other competitors, can she bring herself to be as ruthless as she needs to be to avoid discovery and complete her mission?

Why We Are Waiting:
Lauren: Historical Fiction is not usually my first choice of book to read, but this is not your normal historical fiction. With a slight fantasy twist, and the fact that it deals with one of my favorite moments to read about in history, I’m looking forward to what this book has to offer!
Melissa: Hitler won the war?! Skin-shifting?! The idea of an alternate history had me hooked when I first heard about it at Book Expo America. I’m also super excited to see how Graudin incorporates skin-shifting in her novel! I’ve only seen it done on True Blood and it made things all the more interesting. I’m new to the historical fiction genre and love what I’ve read in the past few months. I’ve only heard great things about this book so I’m looking forward to reading my ARC.
Kelly: Okay, I love, love, LOVE all things WWII. I don’t understand it, but I’ve always had a fascination with everything that has to do with this time period and the history of the war. Having this type of dystopian theme where Hitler wins the war, while giving the MC a type of sci-fi ability… let’s just say I’m in for the long run! Plus… I’d really like to see this MC kick some butt!
Would you read this book? Have you even heard of this book?! I know Kelly didn’t even know about it until I mentioned it. What’s your Waiting on Wednesday? =)
