READ ME! BECAUSE WE ARE SO EXCITED! *Giveaways!*

LET’S CELEBRATE AND GIVE AWAY ALL THE BOOKS!

Hi everyone! *waves frantically* We have a big, huge, amazing, awesome announcement with some giveaways! So we’re just going to cut to the point because we can’t hold it in anymore!

WE NOW HAVE A THIRD CO-BLOGGER!!!!

This girl has been an awesome friend to me (Kelly) for a while now and I’m so happy to announce this!

Please welcome Melissa Lee as our new co-blogger on Live, Love, Read!

We had been talking about blogging together for a few weeks after we read Trial by Fire together and fangirled like there was no tomorrow. When I brought Lauren on, Melissa finally decided to join as well! We’re going to make an AWESOME team and I’m so excited to have her here, blogging, talking, and working with us. She’s such a wonderful person to be around and I love now having an excuse to call her every day! Ha!! Sorry Melissa, you’ll get tired of me soon, I promise. =P Now, I’ll let Melissa talk because I’m not trying to ramble on and get all emotional like last time. HERE’S MELISSA!!!! **********************************************************************************************

Hello everyone! My name is Melissa and I’ll be the third blogger on Live, Love, Read.  Some of you may know me as a co-podcaster on Novelty Podcast. Don’t worry I’ll still be doing that with my girls! I just thought it would be fun to also have somewhere to post my thoughts. I was so fortunate to meet Kelly and Lauren through the On The Same Page Secret Sister! They have both welcomed me with open arms and I can’t wait to get started.  Here’s a little glance at what bookish things I like:

This survey was created by Jamie @ Perpetual Page Turner

Author you’ve read the most books from:

This one is a no brainer! Rick Riordan is the author I’ve read the most books from with 10 books!

Best Sequel Ever:

Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo because Sturmhond.

Currently Reading:

Starting Court of Fives by Kate Elliott

Drink of Choice While Reading:

I usually don’t drink anything while reading, but I have water right after a long reading session

Ereader or Physical Book?

Physical book always! Especially hardcovers.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:

I never dated in high school, but if I had to choose it would most likely be John Ambrose McClaren from P.S I Still Love You by Jenny Han. Personally I just think at that time in my life John would have been a good choice for me, even though I’m Team Peter all the way!

Glad you gave this book a chance:

Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid. This ARC wasn’t high on my list to get at BEA ’15, but my friend Nicole at Nicole’s Novel Reads raved about it since she got it for the ARC tour and told me how sweet Adi was last year at BEA. I had a friend grab it for me because I was in line for something else at the time. I’m really glad I listened to Nicole because I ADORED this book!

Hidden Gem Book:

Dove Arising by Karen Bao I typically read fantasy so this is my first YA Sci-Fi book and I was just blown away.  I’m ready for more!

Important Moment in your Reading Life:

Reading Alanna by Tamora Pierce as a child when I loved Alanna because she was so persistent in everything she could to follow her dream of becoming a knight. Back then I just thought she was super bad ass for disguising herself as a boy and going through rigorous training and overcoming ridicule. Now that I think back, it was definitely a turning point in my life where I understood the concept of gender roles and also girls could do everything boys could at that age.

Just Finished:

Last book I read was More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:

Horror and Romance are the two genres I know I will not read.

Longest Book You’ve Read:

Deathly Hallows currently stands as the longest book I’ve read, which I’m sure will be beat by City of Heavenly Fire and Winter once I read them.

Major book hangover because of:

Looking for Alaska by John Green

Number of Bookcases You Own:

2 1/2, I say half because it’s technically my TV stand that has shelves

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:

I have not re-read any of my books until this year so Sorcerer’s Stone and The Lightning Thief are tied for reading them twice.

Preferred Place To Read:

In my bed because it’s the only place in my house where I have any peace and quiet.

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:

“No one knows for certain how much impact they have on the lives of other people. Oftentimes, we have no clue. Yet we push it just the same.” – Jay Asher Th1rteen R3asons Why

Reading Regret:

Twilight Series… heh heh

Series You Started And Need To Finish (all books are out in series):

Let’s see… Divergent, The Hunger Games, The Mortal Instruments…

Three of your All-Time Favorite Books:

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K Rowling
Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Unapologetic Fangirl For:

Leigh Bardugo & Rick Riordan

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:

MAGNUS CHASE: SWORD OF SUMMER by Rick Riordan!!
I know! I know! I know! Even with Six of Crows, Truthwitch, Passenger, Winter, Raven King, Queen of Shadows…. I’m SO sorry ladies!!! I still love each one of you!

Worst Bookish Habit:

Uhm I haven’t re-read books?

X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:

 Forever by Maggie Stiefvater

Your latest book purchase:

(EDIT 7.13 – I forgot I just bought both Dahlia Adler’s books last night at an event. Behind the Scenes and Under the Lights)
UHH…. It was either The Land of Stories: Beyond the Kingdoms or More Happy Than Not

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera kept me up until 3am.
**********************************************************************************************
Melissa, I (Kelly) did what I told you I was not going to do and read your survey ahead of posting it… The Hunger Games and City of Bones?! SERIOUSLY WOMAN?! GET READING!!
Also, apparently I’m obviously out-numbered by Rick Riordan readers…

  1. Welcome Melissa. Yeah, I haven’t finished “The Mortal Instruments” either. I still have the last two books in the series to read as well as the spinoff series “The Infernal Devices.”

And I’ve got to agree with her on Sturmhond!

      • *EDIT* Wait I didn’t realize you were talking to Kelly…

I actually haven’t finished the series. So many people told me that they adored The Infernal Devices more than The Mortal Instruments. A friend told me that she read TID first before TMI even though Cassie wrote TMI first. So I’m guessing it won’t spoil anything if you read it first. I have also heard that the first three books in The Mortal Instruments are the best out of the 6 since it was supposed to be a trilogy originally. Again I have only read the first two TMI books, so I’m not the best person to ask. The only advice I have is, read The Infernal Devices before you pick up City of Heavenly Fire for spoiler reasons.

  5. Welcome!!! I feel terrible, as I have yet to read any Rick Riordan. I did buy Percy and the Lightning Thief last week, but it’ll have to wait until after YALC this weekend and my read-a-thon next week.

I also need to catch up on The Mortal Instruments series, as I’ve only read the first three books. I’m nursing the 4th book now, but it’s not my main read.

Can’t wait to read your reviews!
