My Top Ten Books From My Younger Years That I Would Love To Revisit!

This is decently exciting!! I can already feel the nostalgia making it’s way through my brain! YAYY… kind of… hahah =) I’m doing books from all over my kid years, so here goes nothing!

1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Because honestly… how could you not?!

2. Bloody Jack by L. A. Meyer

Jackie is still one of my favorite female characters EVER. I don’t think I will ever love a character as much as I did her… although Celaena Sardothien is coming very, very close! I will be revisiting this series eventually in order to close it out! The last book came out recently, in time for Meyer to pass away. His memory is forever preserved in this beautiful, adventurous, witty series.

3. The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare

I used to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book! It was one of my very first reads in the historical/somewhat *fantastical* genre! Plus, Kit is the kind of character who just doesn’t fit in where she was placed and no matter how hard she tries, she has her own identity and sticks to it without fear. Love that fire in her!

4. Marked by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast

I already know that I’ll be revisiting this entire series. It’s a definite. I fell so hard for the drama and all of the characters in this series. They are all so wonderful and I just kept crying and laughing and crying and laughing. It’s a wild ride, but one worth staying around for!

5. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray

I still clearly remember the opening to this series. I’ve read it twice already. It’s one of my favorites, combining both female power, historical fiction, and fantasy into one! did you all know that just about every character, protagonist, antagonist, etc., in this series is FEMALE?! And it was still amazing!!! How awesome is that?!

6. Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

This is a slightly more recent one (I probably read this when I was 16??? Maybe???), but it remains one of my favorites to this day. I can’t promote this book enough. Cynthia takes angels to a new height and twist with this trilogy. It should be read and shared by the millions!

7. The Giver by Lois Lowry

I used to try to read this during science class. I’d put it under the desk and read it until I got yelled at by my teacher. I was so caught up in it. I’d love to give it a re-read and see if I fall in the same kind of love with it all over again. ❤

8. The Host by Stephanie Meyer

This is another more recent (probably 17???) read. It still, to this day, remains one of my favorites. I shout this book from the roof tops. The movie was horrible, but the book is a true story of human survival and the meaning of humanity. It’s beautiful, honestly.

9. Get that Girl out of the Boys Locker Room by Elaine Moore

Going WAYYYYY back, I read this book multiple times. It was my first really strong female character! It’s about a girl who joins the football team in middle school and defies all the boys and their stereotypes for her. I couldn’t get enough of it because, lets face it, I’m still constantly trying to beat boys into the ground when they think they’re better than me. Nothing like a swift kick of a kickball to make them shut their traps… especially if it’s perfectly aimed low…

10. Creole by Stephen Cosgrove

Going even further back, before I was even in kindergarten, this was the book I always demanded that my mom read to me before bed. It’s a beautiful children’s book about an ugly dinosaur-like creature learning to accept herself for who she is, and about her friends learning to see her inner beauty and not judge on her outer shell. This is one book I’d love to be able to find again. It’s been lost through the years, but I still remember it. If there was one book I want to be able to pass on to my own children, it’s this one…
